In the fast-paced online world of Brawl Stars, possessing accurate aiming skills is only half the battle. The other half – and the differentiating factor between a "Newbie" and a "Challenger" – is dodging.

Knowing how to make your opponents constantly miss their shots not only preserves your own HP but also indirectly wastes their reload speed, creating huge gaps for your teammates to take down the enemy. Let's break down the top dodging techniques below.

Basic Mechanism: Understanding to Dodge

Before learning how to dodge, you need to understand the mechanics of the game's targeting system:

  • Hitbox: Each Brawler has a circle under its feet representing the damage range. You are hit only when the enemy's bullet hits this circle, not your character's body.
  • Movement Speed: Brawlers have different movement speeds (Very Fast, Fast, Normal, Slow). Fast Brawlers like Leon, Crow, Max, or Melodie always have a huge dodging advantage over clumsy Tankers like 8-Bit or Frank.

4 Classic Dodging Movement Techniques

Below are online movement techniques used daily by Esports players:

Technique 1: The Juke/Zig-Zag

This is the most basic but always effective against opponents who use Auto-aim.

  • How to do it: Instead of running in a straight line, continuously change direction in a Z or V shape every 0.5 to 1 second.
  • Application: Extremely effective when being chased by long-range Brawlers with fast bullet speeds like Colt, Rico, or Brock.

Technique 2: The Bait & Switch

This technique targets the predictive abilities of players who know how to manually aim.

  • How to do it: Deliberately move continuously in one direction (e.g., running completely to the right) to trick your opponent into aiming and shooting in that direction. As soon as you see your opponent swing their arm to attack, immediately turn the joystick 180 degrees to the left.
  • Application: A hard counter to single-shot snipers like Piper, Belle, or Mandy.

Technique 3: Circular Movement

When engaging in medium or close-range combat, running straight or backward only makes you more vulnerable to bullets.

  • How to do it: Move in a circular or elliptical trajectory around your target.
  • Application: This movement makes it extremely difficult for Brawlers with straight or narrow bullet trajectories to lock onto a target. Especially useful for kiting Tankers or close-range fighters like El Primo or Buzz.

Technique 4: Utilizing Terrain (Wall & Bush Hugging)

Map layouts aren't just for blocking paths; they're your free shield.

  • How to do it: Stay close to the edge of the wall and continuously tap and release in the bush. When you're invisible in the bush, even for just 0.5 seconds, your opponent will completely lose their auto-aim targeting.
  • Application: Helps turn the tide in intense team fights in Showdown or Gem Grab modes.

Dodging in Brawl Stars isn't a natural reflex; it's the result of practice and the ability to read the game. Start by observing your opponent's hand movements, flexibly apply the four techniques above, and turn yourself into an unstoppable "ghost" on the online battlefield.
