In the humorous horror puzzle game Haunt the House, the most interesting mechanic is possessing objects. Each object in the buildings not only helps the ghost move around but also possesses unique hidden skills to maximize the fear level. Do you know how to activate all these supernatural items? Let's explore the detailed guide on how to unlock all the possessed objects and the most awesome scare tactics in the game below!

Possession Mechanism and Fear Levels in the Game

Before going into detail, you need to understand how objects work. An object's power depends entirely on its Atmosphere Meter (the meter measuring the atmosphere/panic level of the room).

This meter is divided into 3 color levels:

  • White: Objects can only perform slight movements (shaking, making small noises).
  • Yellow: Activates medium-level skills (Objects fly up, emitting strange effects).
  • Red: Unlocks the object's most powerful hidden skill, which can cause extreme panic among people, making them flee immediately.

How to Unlock and Discover Hidden Items on Each Map

Haunt the House: Terrortown offers 4 main maps with hundreds of interactive items. Below are the most important groups of items you shouldn't miss.

1. Items at the Museum

The Museum is a basic map to help you familiarize yourself with the rich collection of artifacts.

Knight Armor:

  • How to unlock: Access the armor in the main hall or the central exhibition room.
  • Basic skill: Shake the weapon, producing a metallic clanging sound.
  • Hidden skill (Red bar): The armor automatically draws its sword, chases nearby civilians, or decapitates itself, with the head falling to the ground.

Tyrannosaurus Rex Skeleton:

  • Unlock: Located in the center of the archaeological room.
  • Basic Skill: Move the tail or slightly open the jaws.
  • Hidden Skill: The entire skeleton comes to life, opening its mouth and roaring with a violent screen-shaking effect, terrifying anyone in the room.

Antique Portrait Painting:

  • How to unlock: Scattered throughout the hallways.
  • Hidden skill: The eyes of the characters in the painting move, glancing at passersby, or bleeding from the eyes.

2. Items in the Hospital

Hospitals possess medical items that easily create a creepy atmosphere.

Anatomy Model:

  • Unlock: Located in the laboratory or doctor's office.
  • Hidden Skill: The model splits its body in half, revealing supernaturally glowing internal organs, or walks on its own.

Wheelchair / Hospital Bed:

Hidden Skill: Automatically rolls at extremely high speed, hurtling straight into people and creating unexpected jumpscares.

X-ray Lamp:

Hidden Skill: When people walk past, the lamp turns on and displays an image of their skeleton dancing on the screen.

Items at the Theatre & Cruise Ship

  • Grand Piano: Hidden ability is to automatically play haunting music, keys press on their own, and the instrument levitates.
  • Sphinx / Large Chandelier: The chandelier on the red bar can swing violently as if about to collapse, forcing crowds to evacuate to another room.

Tips for Quickly Increasing Atmosphere Meter to Activate Hidden Skills

If you enter a new room and the status bar is white, large objects won't be able to use their powerful skills. Try this strategy:

  • Enter smaller objects first: Choose a table lamp, a painting, or small vases. Use basic skills to slightly scare the villagers.
  • Corner them: When villagers are scared, they tend to run to the next room. Quickly move to the next room and enter a large object to intercept them.
  • Deliver the decisive blow: When the panicked crowd enters, immediately activate the large object's hidden skill to scare them into fleeing the building.

Conclusion

Mastering all Possessable Objects and activating hidden skills will not only help you complete the game faster but also unlock prestigious hidden Achievements in Haunt the House: Terrortown. Try embodying everything you see and create your own unique scares!
