Suika Game is a puzzle game that combines elements of match-3 and merge games. The game became popular worldwide in late 2023, despite being released earlier.

Origin and Development of the Suika Game

Suika Game was launched in April 2021 as a built-in game in the Aladdin pop-in projector. Realizing the popularity of the game, Aladdin X released a standalone version for the Nintendo Switch console in December of the same year. The game's boom came from streamers and YouTubers, as they played and shared Suika Game, attracting a large number of international players.

Suika Game's detailed gameplay

The goal of Suika Game is to achieve the highest score by dropping fruits into a box, merging them to create larger fruits.

Fruits and the evolutionary chain

The game has a fixed evolutionary chain. When two similar fruits touch each other, they will merge and transform into the next larger fruit in the chain.

The evolutionary chain will start from the smallest fruits, such as cherries, strawberries, grapes, oranges, apples, pears, etc., and finally watermelons (suika in Japanese). Merging two watermelons will make them disappear, clearing the space in the box.

Physics mechanism

This is the key factor that makes Suika Game attractive. Fruits do not just fall straight down, but also follow the laws of physics. They can roll, slide, and collide with each other, changing their expected position.

You have to carefully calculate the drop point of the fruit so that they merge together in the most effective way. A seemingly simple drop can cause a chain reaction, creating more large fruits and bringing huge scores.

Goals and Endings

The goal is to create as many watermelons as possible and achieve a high score. The game ends when the fruit fills the box and any fruit touches or crosses the red limit line at the top of the screen.
