1. Setting up a standard game of Uno

A standard Uno deck consists of 108 cards divided into four main colors: Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue. This setup makes it the perfect casual card game for quick entertainment.

Number of players: 2 to 10.

• Dealing: Each player is randomly dealt 7 cards. The remaining cards are placed face-down in the center of the table to form the Draw Pile.
• Starting: Flip the top card of the Draw Pile to start the Discard Pile. Play proceeds in a clockwise direction.

2. Detailed turn-by-turn Uno rules

When it is your turn, your objective is to play a card from your hand onto the discard pile. The card you play must follow the "Same Color or Same Number" rule:

• Case 1: You have a valid card. You may play a card that matches the color OR the number/symbol of the top card on the discard pile.
• Case 2: You have no playable card. You must draw one card from the draw pile.
  • If the drawn card is playable, you may play it immediately.
  • If it is still unplayable, the turn passes to the next player.

3. The Meaning of Uno Action Cards

The most exciting aspect of Uno is its Action Cards. They can turn the tide of the game and deliver sudden, dramatic twists that catch opponents off guard:

• Skip Card: When you play this card, the next player in the rotation loses their turn and cannot play a card.
• Reverse Card: This card reverses the direction of play. For example, if play is moving clockwise, it immediately switches to counter-clockwise.
• Draw Two Card: A basic yet potent offensive weapon. The next player must draw two cards from the deck and loses their turn.
• Wild Card: A powerful card that allows you to choose one of the four colors (Red, Yellow, Green, or Blue) to set as the required color for the next turn. You can play this card on top of any other card on the table.
• Wild Draw Four Card: The ultimate "friendship-ruining" card in the game. It allows you to choose a new color while forcing the next player to draw four cards and lose their turn. Note: According to the official rules, you may only play the +4 card if you do not have any cards in your hand that match the color of the card currently on the table.

4. The "Call UNO" Rule and Winning Score Calculation

The classic "UNO!" calling rule

This is a mistake made by 90% of online beginners. When you are about to play your second-to-last card, you must press the "Call UNO!" button before the card touches the discard pile.

Penalty: If you forget to call it out and another player catches you before the next player begins their turn, you are penalized by having to draw two additional cards immediately.

Ending the game

The game ends when a player plays all the cards in their hand.

When playing on online gaming platforms, the system automatically calculates scores based on the cards remaining in the losers' hands to determine rankings:

• Number cards (0 - 9): Scored according to the number on the card.
• Skip, Reverse, and Draw Two cards: Scored at 20 points each.
• Wild and Wild Draw Four cards: Count 50 points each.
